1st Conservative Councillor elected in HSPCA since 1986.
Rebecca Hossack, local Warren Street resident and owner of a number of Charlotte Street galleries became the first Conservative Councillor in Holborn & St Pancras since 1986. After three re-counts lasting until 4.30am, Rebecca was eventually elected on Friday afternoon at the Town Hall by a remarkable 2 votes.
Tim Crockford, who was very active in the campaign commented “It was a nail bitting night – we have worked so hard in Bloomsbury over the last few years. It was obviously very upsetting that Rob (Morritt) and Janice (Lavery) didn’t quite get enough, but we were over joyed that Rebecca scraped home to victory. Now we just need to work on that and make sure that next time round we have three Conservative Councillors.”
Elsewhere in Camden, HSPCA Chairman Paul Barton was elected as a Councillor for Highgate and Gospel Oak turned blue – defeating the Labour Leader. In Holborn and Covent Garden, Tim Barnes, Alison Rankin-Frost and Phillip Nelson increased the Conservative vote and Kings Cross the UCL President Jim Hunkin along with Barbara Douglass put in an impressive score.
Congratulations to all involved.
